Research Groups

Research within the Computing Science and Mathematics division is conducted under the umbrella of 2 research groups:

BioMod (Biological Modelling)

BIOMOD is led by Prof Adam Kleczkowski. Its core focus is to develop innovative inter-disciplinary computational and mathematical modelling approaches to high impact real-world problems and to deepen our understanding of the environment in which we live.

For more information, go to the BioMod page.

DatSci (Data Science)

DATSCI is led by Prof Amir Hussain and is a group of inter-disciplinary scientists exploring, developing, and applying brain-inspired computational techniques, search and optimisation methodologies to a range of real-world data-driven problems.

For more information, go to the DatSci page.

Cross-disciplinary Research Themes

In addition to the research defined by the groups above, staff are also active in the university's cross-disciplinary research themes of Health and Behaviour, Global Security and Resilience and Culture, Communities and Society. Under these themes we lead the research programmes in Being Together, Global Food Security and Contextual Learning in Humans and Machines
