Andy Hoyle
Although this is still under construction, I am making a concerted effort to actually update it more often.
Personal
I originally did my undergraduate mathematics degree at The University of Liverpool, before going on to doing my PhD with Prof. Roger Bowers. After a few small jobs, I became a lecturer at The University of Stirling in September 2006 and have enjoyed being here ever since!
Research
I currently have several areas of research which are primarliy in the area of evolution and population dynamics. On the evolution side these firstly include using adaptive dynamics to study the evolution of populations with unstable population dynamics and of host resistence and parasite virulence in host-pathogen systems. Secondly, I study the the evolution of sexual conflict and it's interaction with natural selection. On the population dynamics side these include the use of culling in eradicating disease from multi-host systems.

Teaching
I currently teach on a range of modules, both for mathematics, including MAT9JA and MAT9MC, and also for other departments, including FIN9QA and PDM9L4 and PDM9L5. I also supervise mathematics projects for MAT9J8 and MAT9K8.
Other details
I am at present responsible for the Mathematics Workshop which takes place every June at the University of Stirling. Further information on the workshop and other related events can be found here or email me.
